Deep in the lightless reaches of the Underground dwells Xylanth, a Phase Spider Broodmother bound to the will of Duke Conrad. Far from a mindless beast, she is cunning and cruel, commanding swarms of her offspring from silken nests stretched across the cavern ceilings. To the Irinaxi cultists, she is a living saint, worshipped, fed, and offered fresh bodies in which to seed her brood. Xylanth tolerates their reverence so long as it amuses her, vanishing through the veil between realms when their praise grows tiresome, only to be found again when she allows it.
